Repair, Recovery, and Keeping Treatment on Track
Once we've examined the area, we explain what we found and what the repair involves before we begin. Many fixes are straightforward: re-bonding a bracket, trimming or replacing a wire, re-cementing a band, or reseating an appliance. Retainers and aligners sometimes need to be remade, and we'll tell you honestly what the timeline looks like and what to wear in the meantime so teeth don't drift.
Afterward, mild tenderness for a day or two is normal, especially if a tooth was being repositioned. Soft foods, careful brushing around the repaired area, and wax as needed usually cover it. The larger goal is keeping your overall plan on schedule — repeated breakages can stretch treatment time, so we'll talk through the habits behind them, whether that's crunchy snacks, chewing on ice, or playing contact sports without a mouth guard.
